Evening Gathering at Carlton Marshes for a Family Bat Watch

Join an exciting evening at the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve on July 30, 2025, from 6:45pm to 10:00pm. This unique event, hosted by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, offers a captivating blend of badger watching and bat spotting.

Participants will meet at the visitor centre and embark on a woodland walk, lasting approximately 30-45 minutes and covering a distance of about 1 mile. Upon arrival at the badger sett, you'll have the opportunity to sit quietly at designated viewing benches, waiting for the badgers and bats to emerge.

To make the most of your bat-watching experience, you are encouraged to bring a torch. The event includes a warm meal of jacket potatoes and shortbread bat, making it a perfect way to enjoy the outdoors on a cool evening.

Please note that this event is suitable for children aged 8 and above. Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended, as parts of the event will take place outside.

To book your spot or for more information, please contact [email protected]. If you have mobility issues, it's essential to contact the organiser before booking to ensure your participation.

For those seeking a purely bat-themed event, you might want to explore options offered by other organisations such as the Bat Conservation Trust or Somerset Wildlife Trust, which host family bat walks at various locations and times[3][5].

Terms and conditions for the event can be found at the link here.

Please remember that dogs must be kept on leads at the event, as per a Public Space Protection Order. The event location, Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve, has wheelchair access. In the event of low attendance or inclement weather, the event may be cancelled, and a full refund will be provided.

We hope you'll join us for this enchanting evening of wildlife discovery and adventure!

During this exciting wildlife event, you can anticipate both badger watching and bat spotting, all while enjoying an outdoor-living experience in the picturesque Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve. After the woodland walk, sit at designated viewing benches in your home-and-garden-style attire and wait for the night's creatures to emerge.
