Environmentalists Cleansed Lena River

In the heart of Siberia, a significant ecological action is taking place every year. The "oBEREGAi" project, a federal charitable volunteer initiative, is organised by the ecologists of PJSC "Yakutskenergo", a part of RusHydro Group.

This year, the action was initiated by Stepan Karpov, the head of the ecology group of PJSC "Yakutskenergo". Nine dedicated individuals participated in the event, which took place near the village of Bulgunnyakhtakh on the banks of the Lena River.

The "oBEREGAi" project, which started in 2005, is aimed at cleaning up territories adjacent to rivers and water bodies. Over the years, more than 50,000 volunteers have joined the cause, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.

During this year's action, participants collected approximately 3 cubic meters of waste. The exact types of waste collected were not specified, but the goal was to maintain an ecological balance.

Throughout the project, approximately 2,500 tons of waste have been collected. The efforts have not only resulted in a cleaner environment but also in improved beaches and embankments and the planting of thousands of trees.

The "oBEREGAi" ecological action involves corporate volunteers of RusHydro, representatives of municipal formations, media, activists of public organisations, orphans, schoolchildren, university students, and environmentally oriented children's organisations.

For those interested in learning more about the project or participating, detailed information and conditions can be found on the project's website: http://oberegai.rushydro.ru/

It's worth noting that a search for a federal charitable volunteer project called "oBEREGAi" focused on cleaning up riversides or promoting environmental awareness did not yield any information about such a project in the initial results. The search instead returned unrelated events, places, and architectural projects with similar-sounding names. However, further external research beyond this dataset would be necessary to locate reliable information on this topic.

The "oBEREGAi" project is a testament to the commitment of PJSC "Yakutskenergo" employees to caring for the environment, both at work and in their daily lives. As the RusHydro Group declares the year of ecology, initiatives like "oBEREGAi" serve as a reminder of the importance of our collective responsibility towards the environment.

  1. The "oBEREGAi" project, initially started in 2005, is not only focused on cleaning up territories adjacent to rivers and water bodies but also promotes a lifestyle that prioritizes environmental responsibility, attracting over 50,000 volunteers over the years.
  2. In addition to improving beaches and embankments and planting thousands of trees, the "oBEREGAi" project, which is a part of the RusHydro Group, also contributes to the science of environmental conservation by educating schoolchildren, university students, and environmental organizations, thereby enriching the field of environmental-science in home-and-garden settings.
