Rewarding Eco-Friendly Tourists: Copenhagen Offers Incentives for Sustainable Travel Choices - Encourages Travelers with Incentives for Eco-Friendly Journeys in Copenhagen

Craving some kick-ass eco-friendly adventures? Copenhagen, Denmark's capital, has got you covered! With the extended CopenPay campaign this summer, you'll be rewarded for embracing a greener lifestyle. Say goodbye to carbon-heavy travel and hello to a more sustainable city break.

Here's the lowdown. During a super successful two-week pilot project last summer, tourists could score cool experiences, booze, and other goodies by pedaling a bike, hopping on the metro, or helping clean up parks, beaches, or waterways during their stay in Copenhagen. And the best part? This offering is now almost doubled to a whopping nine weeks—from June 17 to August 17—and the variety of eco-friendly actions to be taken has tripled to a whopping 90!

Keys to the city

This time around, the spotlight is on the train travelers: those who roll in by train will score free bike rentals, yoga classes, tours, or discounted tickets to some of the city's hottest spots. Plus, visitors are urged to linger longer—quality over quantity, yo!

"By integrating responsible actions into the visitor experience, CopenPay totally transforms tourism in Copenhagen," said Søren Tegen Pedersen, CEO of Wonderful Copenhagen. Instead of cramming more tourists into the city, the campaign aims to cultivate a mindset shift among tourists to embrace more sustainable travel choices. After all, the tourism industry contributes significantly to CO2 emissions, making it necessary to nudge travelers toward making greener decisions.[1]
