Elevator malfunctions persist, pushing limits of residents' patience.

In the heart of Wuppertal, Germany, the Rathaus Galerie has been a bustling hub of shopping, offices, and residential living since its inception. However, a long-standing issue with one of its elevators has been causing distress for some of its tenants.

The elevator in question has been out of service since May, serving 25 apartments and posing a significant challenge for its residents, particularly Ela Simon-Weiß and her husband Hans, who are retirees and have been living at the Rathaus Galerie for six years. They moved to Wuppertal six years ago, with Ela having studied in the city and Hans having spent his childhood there.

The root cause of the issue is traced back to the mishandling of construction debris during renovation work on the roof of the Rathaus Galerie. This mishap has led to noise, dirt, and the broken elevator, issues that the couple has been enduring for an unspecified length of time.

Their neighbour, Figan Sarikaya, and his mother Fatma Ates, who have lived in the Rathaus Galerie for three years, also rely on the elevator due to their respective knee problems. They had specifically chosen the apartment because of the convenience it offered.

The LIVOS group, based in Berlin, has been the owner of the property ensemble since 2022. Uwe Matthias, who returned as the manager of the Rathaus Galerie in March 2023, previously held the role from 2015 to 2017. He aims to further develop the Rathaus Galerie into a modern "multi-use center" and improve living conditions for tenants, including addressing the ongoing elevator issue.

In an interview with the Rundschau, Uwe Matthias promised to take action to prevent similar situations from happening in the future. He has announced that renovation work on the elevator is scheduled to be completed, with plans for it to reopen on the coming Monday.

However, a search of recent news and online sources does not reveal any specific or recent information about the Rathaus Galerie's elevator issue or management efforts to resolve it. This could indicate that the issue might not be widely covered in major news or online sources, or it might be a localized problem that is not yet widely known.

For the most accurate and current information, it is recommended to check the official Rathaus Galerie Wuppertal website, local news portals, or contact their management directly.
