You ever take a good, hard look at your shoe pile? Well, I recently did, and I stumbled upon something worth a double-take. There were not just one, but two pairs of Brooks Ghost running shoes, in the exact same colorway — navy blue and turquoise — found in my mom's and our kids' nanny's wardrobes. One could say these shoes cloned themselves, but the truth turned out to be much less sci-fi.
Turns out, my mom and the kids' nanny, both in their 60s, find the same pair of Ghost running shoes perfect for gardening, running after their charges (yep, I'm talking about the kids and grandkids), and simply walking!
My mom, who's had foot surgery and deals with hammer toes, appreciates that the shoes come in wide sizes to accommodate her custom orthotics. She boasts that the shoe's toe box is spacious and well-constructed for her feet's comfort. In fact, her first pair lasted her almost four years before she needed to replace them, a year ago.
And then there's the nanny. She commutes 45 minutes daily, not counting the steps she takes toting the kids to the playground or library.
