With the sun dipping and the mercury finally dropping below 40 degrees, Ali, attired in his ceremonial outfit, has arrived with his fellow police headquarters colleagues to the northern part of the desert city to show off the latest motoring marvels.

A 39-year-old law-enforcement veteran, Ali has dedicated two decades of his life to serving his country, and has earned a place within the police force's most elite special unit. However, the tasks faced by this unit couldn't be more different from those of the UAE-SWAT, which operates covertly against organized crime and smuggling. For Ali Yousif, his missions involve less chasing and more smiling for the cameras.

While Ali Yousif is maneuvering the electric-powered Lotus, his colleagues are patrolling in other luxury vehicles, such as Rolls-Royce Cullinan Mansory, Bentley Continental GT, Audi R8, and a Tesla Cybertruck on a double-shift schedule.

There’s never an issue as the spotlight vehicles, normally costing over one million dirhams (circa 240,000 euros), are allocated in a simple duty roster, just like other patrol vehicles such as BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, or Nissan Patrol. Tesla models, like the Cybertruck, have been a hit for months on patrol duty.

Lamborghini has been one of the primary contributors to this patrol force, offering patrolling vehicles with spectacular performance, such as the latest 666-horsepower Urus Performante—a capable speedster that can reach a top speed of 306 km/h. General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, said, "The powerful super SUV was acquired as part of Dubai Police's efforts to increase the number of patrol officers. The Lamborghini Urus Performante will assist Dubai Police in serving residents better, maintaining social security, and providing services in popular tourist destinations."

The patrol vehicles have an unmistakable color scheme of white and green, accented with blue LED lights and extra equipment such as a safe for weapons, first-aid kits, or defibrillators, ensuring they're ready for any situation that may arise. In case of an emergency, the supercars can make a dash for Dubai's many hospitals.

To maintain readiness, officers are regularly trained on various vehicles, as the supercar police determine is just one of the possibilities within the local force. Officers frequently switch between departments and units, with some recurring in this unit. As Ali Yousif, currently delighted to serve in the supercar unit alongside his comrades, shares, "Our duties are different from those faced by our colleagues in UAE-SWAT. Our primary task is to create a positive and memorable experience for tourists, using these supercars as a visual symbol of Dubai’s commitment to luxury and innovation."
