Pet Food Donation Boxes Expand Across Russia

Pet food donation containers for stray animals have popped up in various stores across Russia, thanks to the growing initiative dubbed "Basket of Kindness." This movement is now active in 59 cities, 11 towns, and 405 network stores nationwide.

Here's a snapshot of the cities and towns where you can find these boxes:

• Central Federal District: Moscow region (Protvin, Krasnoznamensk, Zvenigorod, Oдинцово, Bronnitsy, Domodedovo, Lyubertsy, Balashikha, Klin, Vysokovsk), Ivanovo, Rяzan, Orel, Kaluga region (Kaluga, Zhukov, Obninsk), and Yaroslavl region (Yaroslavl, Rybinsk, Danilov).• Northwestern Federal District: Leningrad region ( Всеволожск) and Vologda region (Cherepovets).• Volga Federal District: Tatarstan (Bugulma), Udmurtia (Izhevsk).• Urals Federal District: Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (Neftюganск), Kurgan.• Far Eastern Federal District: Primorsky Krai (Vladivostok, Artem, Nakhodka).• Siberian Federal District: Tomsk and region (Seversk); Krasnoyarsk (Minusinsk) and Altai Krai (Barnaul).

In the first quarter of 2025, "Basket of Kindness" collected nearly 6 tons of pet food and delivered it to animal shelters thanks to its expansion. You too can lend a helping hand to this worthwhile cause by purchasing pet food, litter, blankets, toys, or other pet supplies at a participating store near you and placing them in the dedicated container near the cash register. Volunteers are there to explain the needs of the shelters and share heartwarming stories about their foster pets.

According to Aline Yukhnevich, head of sustainable development for the retail network, the aim of this initiative is to help more stray animals, especially in smaller cities and towns, by systematically providing food through food collection boxes installed in stores. Yukhnevich states, "We want to give people the opportunity to support animals conveniently and simply, so everyone can contribute, regardless of location."

Every little bit helps when it comes to ensuring our furry friends have enough food and care. No need to reinvent the wheel – just be part of the solution!
