Lasvit, a renowned glassmaking company, made a striking impression at the Milan Design Week with a series of captivating lighting installations. The event, held in April 2025, was busier and bolder than ever, and Lasvit's display provided a welcome pause for visitors seeking a more poetic interpretation of nature.

One of the standout pieces was 'Vera', a sculptural glass pendant designed by the renowned French designer Patrick Jouin. Inspired by natural elements, 'Vera' embodies a raw, expressive aesthetic that combines two artisanal glass techniques: technical glass and fused glass. This unique approach results in a pendant that reflects the material's inherent qualities and the handcrafted process behind it, bringing a connection with nature inside the home.

'Vera' was presented at Lasvit's Euroluce stand, marking their largest display to date. The pendant, with its primal quality, creates an alluring, soft glow, thanks to its irregular texture. This piece, along with other artistic installations, underscored Lasvit's commitment to authenticity and artisanal heritage, fitting within their signature approach to luminaires that offer both visual impact and emotional resonance.

Maxim Velčovský, the artistic director at Lasvit, brought a different tactility to another new lighting system, 'Loomo'. Designed for compact spaces such as corridors or beside beds, 'Loomo' comes in two wall sconce sizes, both finished in a warm, golden hue that enhances their sculptural glow. Velčovský described the development of 'Loomo' as playing with light and making the most of every centimetre to shift the atmosphere of a space.

Another installation, 'Soaked in Light', explores the relationship between light, material, and wellbeing through various textures such as wood, water, fabric, and ice. One of the highlights of this display is 'Splash', an extravagant glass installation by Lasvit designer Martin Gallo. It is designed to echo water's calming effect and allows visitors to walk among suspended fused glass forms that resemble water in motion.

Jan Plecháč, a Czech designer, introduced 'Niveo', a new collection inspired by hailstones, at the Lasvit showcase. 'Niveo' includes linear pendants, clusters, and an inverted spherical table lamp, all hand-blown glass. The irregular texture of 'Niveo' creates an alluring, soft glow, offering a reminder of the beauty in slowing down and paying attention to subtleties.

Lasvit also showcased 'Herbarium Radiant', an immersive lighting installation made from a new glass type that uses repurposed waste. Users can adjust the color of 'Herbarium Radiant's light to create a mesmerizing, ever-changing experience. 'Herbarium Radiant' was first launched at Design Miami 2024 in December.

In conclusion, Lasvit's installations at the Milan Design Week showcased the company's commitment to combining artisanal craftsmanship with innovative design, resulting in lighting installations that captivate and inspire. From the raw, expressive 'Vera' to the calming 'Splash', each installation offers a unique take on the relationship between light, material, and wellbeing.

The 'Vera' pendant designed by Patrick Jouin, presented at Lasvit's Euroluce stand, not only embodies a connection with nature inside the home but also falls under the category of home-and-garden decor, blending two artisanal glass techniques to create a poetic interpretation of nature's elements.

Jan Plecháč's 'Niveo' collection, inspired by hailstones, adds another layer to Lasvit's home-and-garden offerings, featuring irregular textures that create a soft glow, encouraging visitors to slow down and appreciate the beauty in subtleties.
