Professor Dr. Johannes Schilling, an accomplished church historian, will be there to guide you through the development of Protestant hymnals, with an emphasis on Magdeburg's contributions.
The lecture will transport you through the centuries, discussing epochs in hymnal history, from the Reformation period to the 20th century. Our speaker, Johannes Schilling, is an emeritus professor of church and dogmatic history at the Theological Faculty of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. With an impressive lustrum as the president of the Luther Society and a member of the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg, he brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his work. His most recent publication, "Singt dem Herrn ein neues Lied. 500 Jahre Evangelisches Gesangbuch," was released in 2023.
