Tempest Continues at Bayerische Badesee Until Evening: " peace had prevailed here at 6 pm previously"

Despite the initial tranquility at 6 pm, a sudden storm hits Bayerische Badesee, extending until the evening hours.

The picturesque Walchensee in Bavaria is gearing up for a tranquil long weekend, with large families enjoying evening picnics on the shore until 21:00, and bathing guests now allowed to stay until the same hour instead of the previous 18:00.

The extended hours at the Walchensee are part of a wider effort to accommodate visitors, as the area prepares for the influx of tourists during the Assumption of Mary weekend. The Walchensee Water Rescue station and the Töltz Water Rescue are staffed accordingly, with five members from Töltz station in Niedernach and three staff members at the Walchensee station until 17:00 on weekends. Both day and night patrols will take place during the extended weekend.

The peacefulness at Walchensee this year contrasts with the overcrowding experienced at other popular destinations, such as Eibsee at the Zugspitze base. While the exact reasons for the reduced crowds at Walchensee are not definitively known, possible factors could include its slightly remote location, local management policies, or visitor behavior changes due to pandemic-related concerns.

One noticeable change in visitor behavior is the trend of arriving earlier or later to avoid crowds. Another is the increased use of outdoor and nature-based activities rather than gatherings. Additionally, there seems to be a preference for local or regional tourism instead of more crowded international hotspots.

The Germany ticket, which attracts visitors from all over the world, has contributed to the diverse range of visitors at the Walchensee. Jachenau's mayor, Klaus Rauchenberger, attributes the low number of cars at the Walchensee to the double cost factor of the 6 euros toll and 5 euros parking fee, which acts as a deterrent for day-trippers.

Despite the efforts to predict attendance, no specific predictions can be made for the weekend's attendance at the Walchensee. However, with the extended hours, increased safety measures, and the allure of the Germany ticket, it seems that this long weekend will be a serene and enjoyable one for those visiting the Walchensee.
