Copenhagen Capacity teams up with International House, the go-to hub for foreigners in Copenhagen, to get the word out to as many international workers as possible.
"We're trying to cast a wider net," says Asbjørn Overgaard, Managing Director of Copenhagen Capacity, chatting with The Local. "We want to hear from every expat—both those presently in Denmark and those who've bid adieu."
The Lowdown
Over the past four years, foreign workers have become a crucial part of Denmark's economic fabric, contributing a whopping 150 billion kroner to GDP in the first six months of 2024 alone. They filled about 300,000 jobs during that period[1].
This survey, following a gap of four years, aims to unravel the mystery of why a significant number of foreign workers choose to bid farewell to Denmark.
"There are indeed plenty of internationals who leave Denmark due to a lack of settling in or forming friendships," Overgaard explains. "We hear these stories all the time, but we need solid data to back it up."
Brainstorm Time!
"We also aim to gather new ideas on what could actually help increase the retention of foreign workers."
According to Overgaard, they hope to hear from as many expats as possible, shedding light on factors that make Denmark either extraordinary or less than desirable for foreign workers. The survey results will be published in mid to late April[1].
