This summer, get ready to party like never before with LEGO Party!, a wild and wacky multiplayer game developed by SMG Studio and published by Fictions. Slated to launch this year, LEGO Party! brings the beloved LEGO bricks to life in a wild Mario Party-inspired world.
In LEGO Party!, up to four players (either human or CPU-controlled) compete in a variety of minigames, scrambling to collect as many Golden Bricks as they can. From carefully stacking bricks without toppling to bouncing wildly on pogo sticks over rapidly-cracking ice, the action never stops.
Before diving into the zany minigames, each player can choose from a slew of customizable minifigures or pre-built characters. Once you're all set, you'll traverse a game board set in a vibrant LEGO world, jumping on numbered spaces to move forward. But beware – your moves aren't completely random: you'll need to time your jumps carefully or grab power-ups to control exactly how far you'll travel.
The game can be customized to last anywhere from a few rounds to a long, action-packed extravaganza. During my demo, the game clocked in at around 30 minutes, and I didn't see a single minigame repeat. All told, there are over 60 unique games to compete in!
Things really get interesting when players are split into teams, requiring careful coordination and cooperation to clinch the victory. One particularly amusing example has players working together to control a tank, with each player in charge of one tread. Chaos, hilarity, and occasional victories are guaranteed.
But be warned: fortunes can change quickly in LEGO Party!, and even the most comfortable lead can evaporate in an instant. I found myself wishing for another round as soon as the game ended, a testament to the game's addictive appeal.
When asked about future DLC, the developers said they're currently focused on launch. Good news for LEGO enthusiasts: the game will support full cross-play, so players can compete with friends no matter their preferred platform.
Whether you're a Windows or Xbox diehard or just looking for a fun family game night, LEGO Party! is sure to hit the spot.
