Bad Tolz's "Jailhouse" Pub Secures Future With New Ownership, Plans for Renovations and Events

Bad Tolz - After months of negotiations, the beloved "Jailhouse" pub, a staple institution in Bad Tolz, has been saved. Operators Stephanie Hörmann and Peter Frech have successfully purchased the property, putting an end to speculation that the pub might not reopen.

Last-Minute Agreement Reached

With just hours to spare before an eviction lawsuit was set to take effect, a deal was reached. The couples' relief was palpable, as they had faced a stressful and exhausting few months during the uncertainty. "It's a relief to know that we can continue, and that we'll be able to host events again," says Frech. "The 'Jailhouse' is a part of our lives, and honestly, if we didn't plan on keeping it, we wouldn't have bought it," adds Hörmann.

Support from Regular Patrons

During the closure, both Frech and Hörmann received support from regular pub-goers. "Everyone said they were rooting for us," says Frech. The pub's loyal staff and their unwavering support were instrumental in keeping spirits high.

Plans for Renovations and Events

With the property now secured, the couples have plans for the coming months. They plan to renovate and modernize the space, with the aim of completing these improvements by July. Following the renovations, the "Jailhouse" will begin hosting events, including live music performances.

Despite the pandemic affecting event schedules, the "Jailhouse Festival" is set to take place from August 15th to 17th, combining the US car meet and the annual Harley Rock'n'Race. Next year, both events will return separately.

Between live music performances, DJs will entertain guests on Saturday evenings. Themed weekends, such as "Farmer meets Cowgirl" or "Ugly Santa Claus," will also be part of the planned events schedule. Parties for Halloween, New Year's Eve, and Carnival are back on the schedule, as well.

Throughout the summer months, some parking spots in front of the diner will be reserved for US cars or Harleys on Fridays, allowing enthusiasts to show off their prized vehicles. The next date for this is June 5th.

Basement Club Renovations Ongoing

The basement club, which was closed in March due to water damage, is also included in the renovation plans. The restoration work is currently underway, but specific details about the club's future use remain to be seen. "We'll definitely do something down there. It'll just take a little while until it happens," says Hörmann.
