Continued home renovations persist in Magadan city
Magadan Undergoes Comprehensive City Maintenance and Development
The city of Magadan, Russia, is currently undergoing significant improvements and maintenance works as part of a comprehensive master plan aimed at modernizing and upgrading the city's infrastructure and environment.
Trottoir paving is underway on the staircase at Proletarskaya, 68, while container platforms are being installed on Proletarskaya Street, 61, k. 5 and 65, k. 3. Sidewalks are being cleaned on Narovchatova, 11/69, and sections of the road network on Gagarin, Bilibina, Kommuny, Dzerzhinsky, Pushkin, Proletarskaya, Berzina, Shandora Shimanicha, Yakutskaya, Yagodnaya, Naberezhnaya River Magadanki, and Kolymskoye Highway.
In addition to these works, 8 units of GELUD equipment and 25 from KZH have been deployed for daily tasks, and combined road-cleaning machines are washing Portovaya, Nagayeyskaya, and Primorskaya streets. Brody and "vacuum cleaners" are cleaning various streets, including Yakutskaya, Gagarin, Proletarskaya, Berzina, Koltsevaya, Naberezhnaya River Magadanki, Oktyabrskaya, Lenin Prospect, Kolymskoye Highway, and 31st Quarter Ring.
The Greenhouse Complex's plant growers are caring for flowerbeds and gardens, while grass mowing is planned for Portovaya, Koltsevaya, Boldyreva, and Marchekanskaya Lane. Unpaved roads are being repaired on Staro-Veselaya Street, and children's play equipment is being installed at Proletarskaya, 46.
Engineering structures on Kolymskoye Highway and stormwater drains on Lenin Prospect are being washed, and wet cleaning will take place in the "Morskoy" square, where a pedestrian path is also being constructed.
This progress is part of a broader government initiative that began in 2021 to develop master plans for 22 cities in the Russian Far East, aiming to create modern and attractive environments for living, work, and business. The implementation is overseen at a high level, with Russian President Vladimir Putin involved through videoconference meetings discussing achievements and ongoing challenges.
While Russia faces a general decrease in investment volumes for construction projects nationally and challenges related to equipment supply and funding, the Magadan project appears to be a priority with ongoing substantial works and strategic development efforts underway. This includes the completion of a new terminal complex at Magadan International Airport and active development of public spaces like Mayak Park. Additionally, the territory of Nagayev Bay is being cleared for establishing a maritime logistics center, reflecting a focus on enhancing both urban living conditions and logistical capacities.
In summary, Magadan is undergoing significant city maintenance and development activities, driven by a master plan focused on modernization, improved infrastructure, and development of logistics facilities, with high-level political support and active project implementation as of August 2025.
In the broader context of city maintenance and development, Magadan's home-improvement projects extend to the beautification of public spaces such as the Greenhouse Complex's flowerbeds and gardens, and grass mowing on Pushkin, Koltsevaya, Boldyreva, and Marchekanskaya Lane. The lifestyle enhancements due to these improvements are further complemented by the construction of a pedestrian path in "Morskoy" square and the installation of children's play equipment on Proletarskaya, 46, creating a more family-friendly home-and-garden environment for the city's residents.
