Community-led back-to-school supply event for underprivileged families within Montgomery County
Montgomery County is gearing up for its annual back-to-school drive, aiming to collect new school supplies for students from low-income families. The drive, which runs until August 22, 2025, is seeking donations of various school essentials, with a particular focus on new backpacks and basic supplies.
The County is asking for donations of items such as binders, notebooks, folders, crayons, colored pencils, markers, scientific calculators, flash drives, lunchbags, pencil cases, and headphones. These items can be dropped off at 1430 DeKalb Street, Norristown, near the main entrance across from the parking garage. Alternatively, donations can be made online via the county’s Amazon wishlist.
In addition to donations, Montgomery County is inviting community members to get involved by becoming a partner. Gift cards are also welcomed by the organizers. Last year, the drive served 1,000 students with 11,000 items collected.

Additionally, the CGRC Backpack Drive holds collection events in Philadelphia and Delaware County (Delco) offices on August 18 and August 20, 2025.
