Celebration after two decades - Anniversary event for children and young adults at Landwehrplatz
St. Johann Children and Youth Festival Celebrates 20th Anniversary
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the St. Johann Children and Youth Festival will mark its 20th anniversary at Landwehrplatz in Saarbrücken. For two decades, this local event has been organised by the St. Johann Children and Youth Circle, a joint project of various institutions and organisations.
The festival, which runs from 14:00 to 18:30, focuses on fun, community, and togetherness in the neighbourhood. Raphael Foltin, spokesperson for the Caritasverband Saarbrücken, stated that the festival has become a real highlight in the area.
The event offers a free interactive program, a diverse stage program, and various activities for young visitors. Highlights include a mobile climbing wall, craft and creativity stations, face painting, and a T-shirt design project for older participants aged 12 and above at the specially opened JUZ Försterstraße.
Thiago Oliveira, a renowned Cajon workshop leader, will also be present, offering a workshop for interested participants. The Rockmobil, a former school bus, will be present where children and young people can try out various musical instruments.
In addition to these activities, the festival aims to reach more families and show that community is lived in Saarbrücken, regardless of the parents' financial situation. The festival emphasises networking and voluntary commitment from many people.
In case of bad weather, the event will move to the nearby JUZ Försterstraße. Admission to the festival is free, and affordable food and drinks will be provided at the event.
