Beloved Zille Bridge in Marienthal Secures Future with 4,000 Euro Boost
The Zille in Marienthal, a beloved local attraction, has received a financial boost of 4,000 euros from the Association for Leisure Activities in the Regensburg Area e.V. This support ensures the Zille's continued operation and enables further development, much to the delight of locals and tourists alike.
The Zille, a bridge over the Regen, has been an integral part of Marienthal's landscape for 125 years. It connects the Burgensteig trail between Marienthal and Burg Stockenfels with other routes in the region, improving accessibility for hikers. The Zille plays a central role in regional leisure activities, serving as a gateway to hiking trails and drawing visitors to the area.
Established in 1815 following the founding of a glassworks by Franz von Paur, Marienthal's history is intertwined with the Zille. Glass production ended in 1844, but the Zille has remained, providing an attractive offer for recreation in the region from May to the end of September. The Association for Leisure Activities regularly promotes such projects of regional significance that expand leisure opportunities and strengthen the region sustainably.
With the 4,000 euro support, the Zille's future is secured, and further development is on the horizon. This iconic bridge continues to connect paths, landscapes, and generations, enhancing the quality of life in the region for both locals and tourists.
