Batiawan Community Centre is inaugurated concluding SiGMA Asia 2025 event.

On the 5th of June, 2025, the SiGMA Foundation hoisted the Batiawan Community Center's flag in Zambales, Philippines, marking a colossal step in their ceaseless pursuit of sustainable growth and community empowerment. This project, tailored to cater to the Aeta people and Batiawan locals, stands as a vibrant sanctuary for educational, cultural, and social programs that aim to spur self-sufficiency and unity among the residents.

This grand opening was an integral part of a broader catalog of initiatives tied to the SiGMA Asia 2025 Summit, which unfolded in Manila from the 1st to the 4th of June. Before the summit commenced, delegates embarked on an unforgettable journey through Smokey Mountain, an iconic, yet marginalized community within Manila. The immersive experience, coupled with the community center's inauguration, echoed SiGMA Foundation's unwavering commitment to bringing about genuine social change through meaningful grassroots projects.

Dedicated to Lasting Change

SiGMA Asia 2025 assembled the brightest minds in iGaming, technology, and social impact, exhibiting inventiveness alongside purpose-driven initiatives. Building upon a heritage of charitable activities, such as the creation of a multisensory room and the donation of a community bus in Bataan last year, the Batiawan project represented the foundation's deepest investment in community renewal. "It all begins here," asserted Keith Marshall, the SiGMA Foundation's director of philanthropy. "We want them to see the evolution."

Crafted by the People, for the People

With over 60% of Batiawan's inhabitants residing below the poverty line, the newly christened Batiawan Community Center serves as a resolute answer to the neighborhood's essential needs. The center symbolizes opportunities, providing fundamental infrastructure such as cooking facilities, sanitation, and lodgings. These amenities are designed to provide immediate relief while fostering long-term capacity development and community growth.

The opening ceremony, led by Howard Wright, commenced with profound addresses from Father Joseph Cremona, a venerable missionary who had tirelessly served Philippines communities for 22 years. Father Joseph, who has collaborated with the SiGMA Foundation on several community expansion projects, remains a steadfast pillar of social support in Zambales and beyond.

Among the honored guests was Eman Pulis, SiGMA's founder, whose presence underscored both the personal and corporate commitment driving the foundation's projects. His presence reaffirmed SiGMA's unwavering commitment to grassroots development and the importance of maintaining close ties with the communities they collaborate with.

Renate Mikelsone, executive director of Match Liquidity, lauded her organization's role in supporting the SiGMA Foundation's initiatives during the SiGMA Asia 2025 Summit. At the SiGMA Asia Awards, Match Liquidity won four of the five exclusive art pieces during the benefit auction. Their considerable contributions during the benefit auction helped amass 15,200 € for future foundation initiatives, underscoring their resolve to sustain the foundation's broader community extension programs.

The Inauguration: A Symphony of Life

The inauguration of the community center resounded with the harmonious tunes of the MSSP (Misionera de San Pablo) Choir, comprised of 25 voices. Their music encapsulated the spirit of unity and hope that the installation embodies. The Ambassador of Malta to China, John Busuttil, was also present during the inauguration, praising the initiative: "I hope this connection continues to grow, and I hope to participate again next year. Music is the universal language, and I love what they're doing with it." Busuttil's presence underscored the international dimension of the SiGMA Foundation's impact, particularly in Asia. Paving the Way for Growth

The community center functions as the cornerstone of self-sufficiency. Batiawan now benefits from a 170-meter deep well that offers free drinking water to the entire community. Income-generating initiatives, like sewing and welding projects, are underway to ensure that the profits remain within the community and directly augment the well-being of local families.

Plans are already in motion for the construction of a health center, further extending the center's reach. Local leader, Kapitan Jose Lawag, expressed the community's gratitude and thanked the SiGMA Foundation for their trust in the people of Batiawan and their role in bringing this vision to fruition.

As SiGMA Asia 2025 concluded, the Batiawan Community Center marked the beginning of a fresh chapter. Built on collaboration and a shared vision, the center symbolizes long-term advancement driven by the community. Thanks to the collective efforts of the SiGMA Foundation, local leaders, and global partners, Batiawan is now poised to prosper as a model of sustainable development, shaping its future with community support.
