Automotive Circular Economy Summer School to Kick Off in Wolfsburg
Students from diverse fields will gather at the Joint Campus Wolfsburg this September for the first 'Automotive Circular Economy' Summer School. This event, supported by Volkswagen and the city of Wolfsburg, aims to foster ideas for sustainable automotive production and strengthen the region's research and training capabilities in car parts and economy.
The Summer School, organized by the Technical University of Brunswick, Open Hybrid LabFactory, Ostfalia University, and Fraunhofer CCEM, will run from September 8 to 12. Participants will explore ways to design vehicle components for easier repair and recycling, develop efficient disassembly methods, identify suitable recycling materials, and assess economic impacts along the value chain in the automotive industry. These practical, industry-relevant workshops are made possible by the support of Volkswagen and other partners.
The Joint Campus Wolfsburg, an important strategic goal for the city, aspires to become a leading showcase for the automotive circular economy. It seeks to enhance research capabilities and offer programmes for studies, further education, and knowledge transfer. This initiative aligns with the Technical University of Brunswick's Ecoversity strategy, promoting interdisciplinary work to tackle global sustainability challenges in the economy.
The 'Automotive Circular Economy' Summer School, with its focus on sustainable production and industry-relevant projects in car parts and economy, exemplifies the region's commitment to driving innovation and research in the circular economy. The event's success will contribute to the Joint Campus Wolfsburg's goal of becoming a leading hub for automotive sustainability.
