In the heart of Russia's southern region, Krasnodar remains a verdant oasis, thanks to the diligent work of its specialists, even amidst the summer heat. The city's greenery thrives, despite the occasional drought-prone climate.

The responsibility for watering the territories adjacent to apartment buildings lies with managing organisations. However, when it comes to plants that have been planted using budget funds on municipal territory, the Centre for Greening and Ecology takes charge.

The Centre follows a specific rule: the person who plants a plant is responsible for its care. But what happens when a resident notices their plant suffering due to the heat? The Centre has assured that it will take necessary measures in response to such concerns.

Watering in Krasnodar is a regular occurrence, taking place daily at various sites. It is primarily done in the morning and night, with watering during the day also possible if the weather is cloudy.

During periods of severe drought, as Krasnodar has recently experienced, watering becomes even more crucial to prevent stress and death among trees and shrubs. To ensure growth and survival, horticultural practices such as deep root watering or drip irrigation are recommended. These methods deliver water slowly and directly to the root zone, minimising evaporation loss.

Deep watering techniques are also used to ensure water penetrates the soil to the root depth, helping trees and shrubs better withstand dry conditions. This approach has been shown to be particularly effective in warm climates like Krasnodar's.

Yevgeniy Skripnik, deputy director of MCK "Center for Greening and Ecology," emphasised the importance of these practices. He stated that residents who notice suffering trees or shrubs due to the heat can contact the Centre for support.

In these hot summer months, it is crucial to ensure the growth and survival of Krasnodar's trees and shrubs. By following the recommended watering practices and seeking help when needed, the city's greenery can continue to flourish.

The Centre for Greening and Ecology, responsible for plants planted using municipal funds, urges residents to follow a rule: the person who plants a plant is responsible for its care. During hot summer months, as seen recently in Krasnodar, it's essential to employ deep watering techniques, delivering water slowly and directly to the root zone, to help trees and shrubs better withstand dry conditions. This approach, will not only aid in the survival of plants but also ensures that environmental-science efforts focused on the city's lifestyle and home-and-garden landscapes continue to thrive.
