Apply for the NRW 2025 Home Award: Win up to 7,000 euros in prize money
The city of Essen, a vibrant mix of 50 districts, nine city districts, and various associations, initiatives, organisations, and individuals, is set to honour outstanding commitment to the local community with the Heimat-Preis NRW 2025. This prestigious award is an initiative of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Heimat-Preis NRW is a celebration of those who volunteer their time and efforts to shape their local home. Whether you're a non-profit organisation, an association, or an individual with a project that makes a difference in Essen, you are invited to apply. The deadline for submissions is 31 August.
The prize money, totalling 15,000 euros, is provided by the Ministry for Heimat, Kommunales, Bau und Digitalisierung of the state of NRW. The prize is awarded in three categories, with the first prize endowed with 7,000 euros, the second prize with 5,000 euros, and the third prize with 3,000 euros.
The selection process for the Heimat-Preis is a collaborative effort. An expert jury will carefully evaluate the applications, and citizens can also participate in the decision-making process via an online voting for a period of three weeks. The jury's decision and the voting will be equally weighted in the final evaluation.
