Apple ecologically-friendly harvesting operation in Schlaraffenburger's eco-model region

The Eco-Model Region of the District is hosting an apple event called "Apple Happiness" on September 27, 2025. This family-friendly event is a collaboration with Schlaraffenburger and aims to strengthen and preserve the orchard as a sustainable form of agricultural land use for future generations. The theme of the event is "Harvest, Share, Connect". Participants can help shake trees, collect, and load apples from over 20,000 trees, representing over 300 different varieties. Through this hands-on experience, participants will gain an insight into the production of organic apple juice and learn interesting facts about various apple varieties. Orchard farming not only provides a bountiful harvest but also serves as a habitat for various animal and plant species. By attending this event, you're not only enjoying a day out in the countryside, but you're also contributing to the preservation of old and native apple varieties for the future. To ensure a comfortable experience, weather-appropriate clothing, Wellington boots, and gloves are recommended. For detailed information and directions, visit the homepage of the Eco-Model Region at www.oekomodellregion-ab.de under "Events". Registration for the event can be done via email at [email protected] or by phone at 06021/6283208. At the end of the event, a shared snack awaits the participants to celebrate a day well spent in the orchard. So, mark your calendars for September 27, 2025, and join the Eco-Model Region and Schlaraffenburger in their mission to connect, harvest, and share the apple happiness! Reinhard Backhausen has been building the collaboration with the Eco-Model area of the district since 2007, contributing to the success of events like Apple Happiness.
