Anke Rehlinger Explores "Fun Holiday Dengmert" in Oberwürzbach: Naturescapes, Pizza Evenings, and Wildlife Interactions
The city of St. Ingbert in Germany is gearing up for an exciting summer with its "Fun Ferien Dengmert" vacation program. Running from July 1, 2023, to August 17, 2025, this program offers a wide variety of activities for children and young people, including nature experiences, sports, creative workshops, and digital topics, among others[1][2][3].
Organized in cooperation with 21 local clubs and organizations, the program aims to engage children and youth in a fun, interactive, and community-oriented environment throughout the summer holidays[2][3]. Some of the specific activities include outdoor nature-related activities, such as guided explorations and learning about local flora and fauna[1][4]. Culinary workshops, like baking pizza, are also on the menu[1].
In addition, the program includes animal encounters through visits or care sessions organized by local animal-related groups[1]. Participants will also have the opportunity to work with community organizations such as the Obst- und Gartenbauverein (Fruit and Gardening Club), enhancing their knowledge about gardening and agriculture[1][4].
Last year, the volunteers built an "Beetle Larva Castle" with over 200 running meters of dead wood[1]. This year, the program promises even more adventures in nature, including a donkey hike, construction of insect hotels, and creation of a wild bee bed[1].
The "Fun Ferien Dengmert" program has gained increasing popularity over its five years of existence[1][2][3][4]. Notable figures such as Minister President Anke Rehlinger have taken on the patronage for this year's program[1]. During her visit to the program, she was welcomed by the local mayor, Dunja Sauer[1].
The children showed the Minister President colorful flowers, grasshoppers, and a wasp spider they had caught[1]. Markus Schmitt, deputy mayor of St. Ingbert, praised the commitment of the Obst- und Garten Association during the visit[1]. Margit Frenzel-Klemsch presented a gift basket filled with homemade products to Anke Rehlinger at the conclusion of the visit[1].
Families can find information about all events and register their children at www.st-ingbert.feripro.de. Until mid-August, there are still many more opportunities to experience the fun and educational activities offered by the "Fun Ferien Dengmert" program.
