Animals missing following barn fire at Montgomery County shelter for animals

A devastating barn fire at the House of Wiggle Goats in Worcester Township, Pennsylvania, has left approximately 40 animals dead or missing. The flames broke out around 3:13 a.m. on May 25th at the sanctuary, which provides a lifelong home for goats and other farm animals. The property, built in 1857, was home to around 120 animals.

The fire initially engulfed the barn, with intense flames trapping some animals under the collapsed roof as firefighters battled to contain the inferno. Video footage captured the extent of the damage.

"This is every farmer's worst nightmare," lamented Erin Wiggle, the sanctuary's owner. At least 12 other animals are currently receiving veterinary treatment for burns and injuries.

Initial 911 calls were made by drivers on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Multiple fire departments and tanker trucks were needed to tackle the blaze.

Although the cause of the fire remains under investigation, it is believed that it may have been electrical in nature. Despite the extensive damage sustained, there has been an outpouring of support from the community.

"We can rebuild the barn, but the loss of life is extremely tragic," Wiggle said. "We're hopeful that more animals will start to return to the farm as things settle down."

The House of Wiggle Goats has set up an online fundraiser to help cover veterinary bills, animal care, and the rebuilding process. Donations for feed, bedding, and other necessary supplies are also being accepted by local businesses.

Community members and volunteers are still searching for the missing animals, and anyone who spots farm animals wandering should alert local authorities.
