Angola's First Commercial Data Centre Opens, Powered by Renewables
Raxio Group has opened its doors to Angola's first commercial data center, Raxio Angola. Built to Tier III standards, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to be energy-efficient and powered primarily by renewable sources. It's set to revolutionize the country's digital landscape.
Raxio Angola, located at the Raxio Angola Internet Exchange Point (IXP), is a carrier-neutral co-location facility. This means customers can interconnect with multiple network and internet service providers, fostering a competitive market. The data center boasts a capacity to deliver up to 3 megawatts of IT power and host over 800 server racks.
Powering this impressive facility is a robust and reliable system. It's 70% powered by renewable energy and features two independent dedicated substations and two large generators, ensuring uninterrupted service. Additionally, Raxio Angola is equipped with an on-site water treatment plant for recycling and reusing water, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability.
Maria Miguel Pinto has been appointed as the General Manager of Raxio Angola. Under her leadership, the data center aims to enable world-class local hosting for critical systems, reducing the need for costly overseas services.
Raxio Angola, Africa's most advanced data center network's latest addition, is set to strengthen Raxio Group's position. This facility, with its robust infrastructure and commitment to sustainability, is poised to drive Angola's digital transformation.
