AMD unveils Ryzen 9000 PRO collection, peaking at 12 cores - new business lineup comprises 3 CPUs for original equipment manufacturers, incorporating additional business and security features
In a significant move for the tech industry, AMD has announced the release of its new Ryzen PRO 9000 enterprise processor lineup. This latest offering from AMD promises improved performance and enhanced security features, making it a compelling choice for businesses seeking high-performance and reliable processors.
The Ryzen PRO 9000 series includes three new SKUs: Ryzen 5 Pro 9645, Ryzen 7 Pro 9745, and Ryzen 9 Pro 9945. Each of these processors is built on the Zen 5 'Granite Ridge' architecture and comes with a bundled Wraith Stealth stock cooler, manufactured by AMD itself.
The Ryzen 5 Pro 9645 boasts 6 cores and 12 threads, with a base clock of 3.9 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.4 GHz. The Ryzen 7 Pro 9745 offers 8 cores and 16 threads, with a base clock of 3.8 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.4 GHz. The Ryzen 9 Pro 9945, the top-tier model, features 12 cores and 24 threads, with a base clock of 3.4 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.4 GHz.
Interestingly, the Ryzen 9 Pro 9945 loses 300 MHz in its base clock when compared to its predecessor, but it still delivers impressive performance. According to reports, the Ryzen 9 Pro 9945 is up to 44% faster in Blender and up to 22% faster in other productivity benchmarks when compared to Intel's Core i7-14700 processor.
It's worth noting that the Ryzen PRO 9000 series shares the same 65W TDP across all its SKUs, ensuring consistent power consumption. Moreover, these processors come with enterprise management and security features not present on standard CPUs, making them a suitable choice for businesses.
However, it's important to mention that Ryzen PRO is less mature than Intel's competing vPro technology. Both offer similar features with an overlapping goal in mind, but businesses may want to consider the maturity and support structures of these technologies when making their decisions.
Unfortunately, the pricing and availability of the Ryzen PRO 9000 series are not clear as they are distributed to OEMs for enterprise use. As more details become available, we will keep you updated on this exciting new development in the world of enterprise processors.
