AGB & Chartwell Offer Free Seniors' Clay Studio Workshops This October
The Art Gallery of Burlington (AGB) and Chartwell Retirement Residences have joined forces to offer free Seniors' Programming this October. The program, open to participants aged 55 and above, provides a unique opportunity to explore creativity in clay studio workshops. The sessions are led by artist educators Dawn Hackett Burns and Heather Kuzyk, with the first session kicking off on National Seniors Day, October 1.
The program consists of two sessions, each lasting two weeks. Session One takes place on Tuesdays, October 14 and 21, from 1:30 to 4 pm, guided by Dawn Hackett Burns. Session Two occurs on Thursdays, October 16 and 23, from 10 am to 12:30 pm, led by Heather Kuzyk. Both sessions are free, with registration on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to 12 participants each. The workshops are inspired by Russna Kaur's exhibition, allowing participants to personalize their creations using glazes. Heather Kuzyk, who leads Session Two, was trained as an artist and teacher at the Ontario College of Art and Design.
Chartwell's sponsorship covers free registration, materials, kiln firings, and a tour of fall exhibitions for all participants. The program concludes with a reception on October 30, from 2 to 4 pm, where coffee and tea will be served.
The AGB and Chartwell Retirement Residences' partnership offers seniors a wonderful opportunity to engage with art and express their creativity. With free registration and materials provided, the program is accessible to all. The workshops, led by experienced artist educators, promise a enriching experience that culminates in a celebratory reception.
