Bermonds Locke, an innovative extended stay living concept, has recently opened its doors in Bermondsey, London. This development, a collaboration between BECK, edyn group, and designers Holloway Li, offers a fresh take on urban living.

BECK, a premier provider of high-end fit-out services with a UK headquarters in Surrey, was responsible for delivering this urban oasis designed for the modern traveller. Known for their work with iconic hospitality brands, luxurious boutique hotels, and exclusive residential addresses, BECK has once again mastered their field.

The property boasts 143 studio apartments, a restaurant, coffee shop, co-working space, and a wellness studio. The design narrative captures the psychedelic experience of the Joshua Tree, with an iridescent rainbow finish on bar tops, wall panelling, and fluted polarising glass sliding partitions in the rooms.

One of the standout features of Bermonds Locke is the presence of Shaman, an all-day food and drink destination, within the co-working area. Shaman offers third-wave coffee, grab-and-go items, wine, cocktails, and pre-packed recipe boxes for guests.

In the apartments, designers Holloway Li have created a surreal, iridescent haven, inspired by California’s Joshua Tree and Mojave desert. Bespoke bed frames woven out of blackened rebar are accented with linen canopies in the studio rooms. Concrete testing cubes destined for landfill find new purpose serving as plinths for six-metre long terrazzo tables in the ground floor workspaces.

Stephen McCall, CEO of edyn, stated that Bermonds Locke aims to liberate guests from typical hotel rooms. "We want our guests to feel at home, with the added benefits of a hotel's amenities," he said.

Robin Gill's Bermondsey Larder, moving from Clapham this September, will also be located at Bermonds Locke.

Main contractors for the project are Beck Interiors, whose state-of-the-art workshop creates bespoke furniture and joinery, executed by a highly skilled team.

Locke has opened its third London property in Bermondsey, offering a unique and spacious living experience that combines the comforts of home with the amenities of a hotel. Bermonds Locke is not just a place to stay, but a destination for those seeking a unique urban oasis in the heart of London.
